Quilt Categories for 2022 BBQG Quilt Show

1.     Pieced: Quilts are predominately pieced. They may be pieced by hand or machine.

2.     Applique: Quilts are at least 50% applique.

3.     Innovative & Art: Quilts that take from the traditional and expand the setting, design, color and construction techniques to create a non-traditional work. The term “non-traditional” includes adaptation of traditional and contemporary designs both original and non-original.

4.     Modern Quilts: Quilts that re primarily functional and inspired by modern design. Minimalism, asymmetry, expansive negative space, improvisational piecing, and high contract are significant elements of Modern Design.

5.     Theme: Quilts in this category must represent a world of color. They can be any size and use any technique. Entries may be constructed by hand or machine, and any number of people can be involved in making the quilt. Judges will give greater emphasis to creativity of World of Color.

6.     Scrap: Quilts constructed with at least 50 different fabrics not including fabric backs or the back of the quilt. Includes all techniques.

7.     Miniature: Length plus width must be no more than 48” and maximum block size is 4”. The quilt scaled down (miniaturized) and bound. Includes all techniques.

8.     Group: Quilts created by 3 or more people.

9.     Blocks of the Month/Kit Quilts: Category includes any quilt constructed from precut or          pre-selected fabrics. Entries in this category are not eligible for Best of Show.

10. Other Techniques: This category may include any quilt that does not obviously fit into another category. Examples: crazy, clothing, painted, embroidered and photo quilts.

11. Youth: An entry that is constructed by a young person under the age of 16.

12. Challenge Quilt: All challenge entries must complete the entry process. However, there is no registration fee.

13. Go Texan: Go Texan entries must comply with Go Texan rules.
